Time and Money Quote

Imagine this: If you had $86,400 in your account and someone stole $10 from you, would you be upset and throw all of the remaining $86,390 away in hopes of getting back at the person who tool your $10? Or move on and live? Right, move on and live. See, we all have 86,400 seconds each day. Don't let someone's negative 10 seconds ruin the remaining 86,390. Don't sweat the small stuff, life is bigger than that. - The Minds Consciousness
Time and Money QuoteTime and Money Quote

Aah! This is one of my favorite quotes!

It really puts things into perspective and I have brought this up in Wabeno one time and someone found it useful right away.

I’ve had someone upset 10 seconds of my time over twenty years ago and it still crops up and bug me! I’m sure that person has long since forgotten what they did and moved on. That is why I am constantly on the path of bettering myself and learning. Hay House has many books to help people on their own paths.

The next time someone or something upsets you try to think of this quote and think if this would matter 15 minutes from now, a day from now, or even 20 years from now.

Tolerance Quotes: Accepting all the Good and Bad about Someone

"Accepting all the good and bad about someone. It's a great thing to aspire to. The hard part is actually doing it." - Sarah Dessen
Tolerance Quotes: Accepting all the Good and Bad about Someone

Yes, this can be very difficult for people. I know that I fall into that category. I can tell you this though if you accept someone fully it makes things easier for both parties.

Sarah Dessen is another author that I have not read but I like her philosophy on this quote here. If anyone has ever read anything from here please let us know what you think of her writings.

So many books and so little time!

Unconditional Love and Acceptance

The greatest gift that you can give to others is the gift of unconditional love and acceptance. - Brian Tracy
Unconditional Love and Acceptance

Here is another post about unconditional love. Remember that in order to gain accesptance you must first understand. Once you understand, acceptance comes easier, and when acceptance is easier then unconditional love becomes easier. If you like this quote then you will like my post on a similar quote. In this similar quote, I go over how important it is to love yourself more than someone else.

It says the quote is from Brian Tracy. At first, I thought he was from Hay House, but I was thinking of Reid Tracy. It turns out that Brian Tracy is some marketing guru for selling. I have never read any of his books but if you have please let me know how they are in the comments below. Hay House, on the other hand, I had purchased many things from them and highly recommend them!

Unconditional Love

Learn to love without condition. Talk without bad intention. Give without any reason. And most of all, care for people without any expectation.
Unconditional Love

When someone speaks of unconditional love I think of the book I read, “One” by Richard Bach. At one point in the book, they talk about loving someone unconditionally. But the topic of one side of a relationship being physically and emotionally abusive then they both decided that conditions should be applied to love.

It has been said that before you can love another you must love yourself first. I would like to expand upon that and say that you should love yourself more than someone else. That way if you are in an abusive relationship you can leave the abusive relationship because you love yourself more. Someone who is in a relationship and gets dumped will feel pretty badly. Sometimes to the point of suicide. In situations like this, it is very important to love yourself more than the other person because that can be the deciding factor between life and death.

The other part of the quote is there to ensure a happy life for yourself and those around you. Don’t do things for yourself, do it for others. If you continue this behavior you will find that people will do things for you when they realize that you are being selfless.

Understanding and Acceptance

"Understanding is the first step to acceptance, and only with acceptance can there be recovery." - JK Rowling
Understanding and Acceptance

Two words that came to me during a particularly deep meditation were acceptance and understanding. I was told that these words are the most important words for me and this quote by JK Rowling sums it up perfectly.

How many times did you or someone you know ‘flew off the handle’ and started yelling before finding out the whole story? Before anyone reacts they should have a full understanding of the situation so no wrong conclusions are drawn.

When you are faced in a very difficult situation perhaps at work for an example. You may automatically judge someone to be an A-Hole but if you have an understanding about he or she’s background to learn why they act the way they do then you will be able to have a better acceptance of the situation. This example is similar to another quote, “Never criticize a man until you’ve walked a mile in his moccasins.”

I remember reading this story in Reader’s Digest about a very grumpy woman that called a cab every other day to get to an appointment. The dispatch would always give the call to the same taxi driver and he always did not look forward to picking up this woman. The same thing happened every day that he drove her. She would be very negative, complain about everything, nothing was ever good enough, etc. The driver would try to keep from getting angry and block it out.

Then one day he wondered why she was the woman that she was and started asking questions and talking to her in a polite manner. He found out that she was on kidney dialysis and that is why she was always in a bad mood. They actually became friends and the taxi driver told her that he was going to the hospital to see if he was a suitable donor for the woman. When the tests were done he found out that he could donate a kidney to the woman and he did. Reader’s Digest was notified of the story and published it.

I found the story about the kidney donation online and you can read it here.

Unguarded Thoughts

Your worst enemy cannot harm you as much as your own unguarded thoughts. - Buddha
Unguarded Thoughts

Thoughts can be your enemy or your friend. It all depends upon how you view life. If you view life in a negative way then your thoughts will do nothing but expand and concentrate on the negative thus becoming your enemy. If you look at the same situation with a positive mind then you will see things differently and see an opportunity, the silver lining in the cloud, etc. and your thoughts will become your friend.

When I read the part, “Your worst enemy cannot harm you as much…’ it made me think of another quote, “A brave man dies once, but a coward dies a thousand times.”  When I first heard this quote I didn’t understand it until I was told that a coward thinks about many ways he could die on the battlefield then I understood it. It is the same thing as when someone bullies you they enjoy it at the time and may think about the situation for a short while but if you really let the bullying get to you then you will become angry and think about it for the next 20 years or so. The bully has completely forgotten the incident so why are you still holding onto it 20 years later? That is how you can do more harm to yourself than your enemy ever can.

Who Owns the Upset?

Whenever someone else is upset, keep in mind that he or she owns the upset, and that you can refuse to join in. - Dr. Wayne Dyer
Upset Quote

I know this Wayne Dyer quote is much easier said than done but it is worth the practice to make it an easy thing to do. This is very similar to the Buddha story I have heard.

The Story of the Angry Young Man and The Buddha

It is said that one day the Buddha was sitting and meditating when a very angry and rude young man came up and began insulting him, saying all kinds of rude words to try and get the Buddha upset.

The Buddha was not upset by these insults and waited until he was finished then asked the young man, “Tell me, if you buy a gift for someone, and that person does not take it, to whom does the gift belong?”

The young man was surprised to be asked such a strange question and answered, “It would belong to me because I bought the gift.”

The Buddha smiled and said, “That is correct. And it is exactly the same as your anger. If you become angry with me and I do not get insulted (accept the gift), then the anger falls back on you. You are then the only one who becomes unhappy, not me. All you have done is hurt yourself.”

If you can master this you will find a much more peaceful life and not only that you will bring peace and calm people down around you just by being in their presence.

Value of Moments

Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment, until it becomes a memory. - Dr. Seuss
Value of Moments

I like this little quote. Too many times people let time pass time without truly appreciating it. Sunshine, sunset, or the fragrance of a rose should be taken in every once in a while.

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

Ferris Bueller

Ferris Bueller was good at doing this. This movie is the persona of this quote. If you didn’t see this movie go ahead and watch it. You will learn much about life in it.

Many times people are at the end of their life or with someone else at the end of their life and wished they would have taken more time out of their life to notice the little things, spend more time with the ones that they love, and appreciate all of the things in their life that they paid no attention to.

Let me tell you that you don’t want to be in the position where you are with a loved one that is dying soon and want to try and cram in every question and spend time with for all of the time you didn’t in the past. It really hurts and you will be filled with regrets for a long time. Don’t let this happen to you.

Besides stopping to watch a little bird pick up a french fry off of the groud and finding it amusing will bring a smile to your hectic lifestyle and you will be able to face the day and your life much better!

Life is too Short to Spend it at War with Yourself

Life is too short to spend it at war with yourself.
War With Yourself

This is a quote that a lot of people have trouble with. Especially those people who have a tendency to blame themselves and treat themselves too harshly whenever they make a mistake. Generally, people who treat themselves to harshly also treat others the same way with high expectations.

When you beat yourself and waste your time whenever you make a mistake is it really, truly worth it? Of course not! We are human, believe it or not, no matter how high your self-expectations are! Life is too short to beat up yourself over past mistakes and regrets. Just learn from it and move on. If it can be fixed, fix it. If it cannot be fixed then accept it. Otherwise, it is just a waste of time.

We Are What We Think

We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.
We Are What We Think

I do believe that this was a Buddha quote. On the surface, it is pretty obvious. If we have angry thoughts then, of course, we will be angry people. But this, if practiced enough, will define what we are down to the core.

If you can keep your mind pure with thoughts then people, like-minded people will be more apt to approach you rather than if you have a scowl on your face. It’s second-nature, we determine who we are just by our thoughts and actions and everyone you come across will believe that as well. Joy will follow you and you will feel that you are born under a lucky star if your attitude matches and it becomes your core being then joy WILL follow you like a shadow that never leaves.

As an exercise try to catch yourself when you start having the wrong thoughts and tell yourself do you want to be like the person who consistently has this thought? Then go on with your day and try to catch the next negative thought that you don’t want to be defined as.
