Insight Timer is a meditation app that I use that has helped me many times. And this little Buddhist quote I remind myself many times before I open my mouth. On bad days I keep my mouth shut often.
In the movie, “One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest” there was a character that everybody thought was deaf and dumb but in reality, he never really had anything important to say. It made me wonder if the character was applying this quote to himself.
This quote from the Buddha is a great play on words and I love it!
Some people call Buddha a god but he was just a prince (philosopher) that traveled the land and learned a lot about life then shared what he learned about life to everyone and developed a following.
An unknown fact about Buddha is that he had very strict rules for his followers such as keeping lust under control, etc. You can read more about it on this Wikipedia page entitled, “Buddhism and Sexuality“.
If you get rid of ego and desire all you are left with is happiness and knowing the why behind it makes the happiness last longer.
This falls along the lines of nobody can make you angry without your permission or participation.
Every 100 years or so we are taught to say a different nationality is our enemy even though we may have never met someone from the country that they are from.
Anger, ego, greed, and hate can be controlled and these enemies are defeated. These emotions can come from outside sources if we let them in, but what if people try their hardest to invoke those emotions within us and fail? Are they really the enemy then?
