This quote is similar to the one that I just posted about happiness and gratefulness.
That quote says, “It is not happy people that are grateful. It is grateful people who are happy.”
If you are grateful, you cannot help but be happy.

This quote is similar to the one that I just posted about happiness and gratefulness.
That quote says, “It is not happy people that are grateful. It is grateful people who are happy.”
If you are grateful, you cannot help but be happy.

I imagine this one is an easy one to understand.
If you cannot accept something in life all it does is make you miserable. I was told in meditation one time that two of the most important words for me are acceptance and understanding.
After pondering that for a while I realized that utilizing these two words would bring a lot of peace in my life.

I remember one time my father saw a bird carrying a french fry in his beak. He smiled and got enjoyment from this little incident.
Was he easily amused? Did he have a genuine interest in the details of life? Was it both?
This also reminds me of the movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off when he says, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
If you just stop and look around at the details of everything around you. You will begin to see the beauty of all of the miracles around you. You will also become grateful for every little thing in life and I can guarantee you that if you do that you will be a happier person. That is why I take walks outdoors when I need to destress.

This quote puts a nice twist on things. Just like the quote, “There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way.”
The chicken or the egg? Why are people happy? Because they are grateful!

There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way.
This is a simpler way of putting it. If you think having possessions will make you happy. Think again. It is what the possessions make you feel like.
What you have and who you just make it easier. When you feel that you need something to make you happy think about how that something makes you feel then think of another thing that can make you feel that way. Object or not.

This reminds me of another quote that I read about how happiness is like a butterfly when pursued it is always beyond your grasp but if you sit still it will enlighten upon you. It was shared to me from someone I knew in the past a long time ago.
Funny thing is in the image he is sitting still but instead of a butterfly, it is a frog that is paying him a visit. I had chosen a meditating frog for the icon of this site.
Another quote similar is, “There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way.”
I have noticed that sometimes if you try too hard for something you really miss the point on what you are trying to achieve in the first place. You put the end as a goal by putting conditions on it such as, “I won’t be happy until this or that happens.” when you could have it all along.

This quote reminds me of the John Lennon quote elsewhere on this website. While his quote (disputed whether or not he really said it) talked about the importance of happiness this one gives an enlightened view on how you look at things to bring about that happiness.
I feel that this quote could be deeper. It almost makes you feel that you will be happier if you settle for what you have and I would prefer to look at it in the light of expressing gratitude and seeing the joy for what you have instead of ‘making the best of it’.

This quote from the Buddha is a great play on words and I love it!
Some people call Buddha a god but he was just a prince (philosopher) that traveled the land and learned a lot about life then shared what he learned about life to everyone and developed a following.
An unknown fact about Buddha is that he had very strict rules for his followers such as keeping lust under control, etc. You can read more about it on this Wikipedia page entitled, “Buddhism and Sexuality“.
If you get rid of ego and desire all you are left with is happiness and knowing the why behind it makes the happiness last longer.

I like quotes that make me think and this is one of them. It’s like a which came first the chicken or the egg riddle.
Happy people had to get happy someway didn’t they? Probably something good came into their lives that made them thankful. Is it possible to be happy without being thankful? Meditate on that for a while and you will probably come to some realizations that will help you on your journey.
What emotion do people who are thankful have? Happiness, peace, content, etc. Is it possible for someone to be thankful and not be happy? I don’t think so.

Wouldn’t it be nice if it was really this easy? Even in the darkest moments of our life, we can choose to wallow in it or choose to be happy and move on.
The situation at hand or someone that made you angry or sad is not the one in charge. You are! Don’t let the world or someone else try to dictate how you are supposed to be feeling at the present moment. You be the boss and decide how you want to feel at any given moment.
