Acceptance & Understanding

If we want to change something, we must begin with understanding. But if we want to love something, we must begin with acceptance.
Acceptance & Understanding

Here is another quote on what was told to me to be the two important words for me at the time.

Acceptance and Understanding.

These two words beautifully go together. When joined these two words can solve many problems and many problems would not start if people just pondered on these two words.

I noticed that this quote was by Eric Greitens. Never heard of him so I looked him up and he sells some books. According to Wikipedia, this is what they say about him.

Eric Robert Greitens is an American politician, humanitarian, author, and former Navy SEAL who was the 56th governor of Missouri from January 2017 until his resignation in June 2018. Born and raised in St. Louis, Greitens received a doctorate from Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, as a Rhodes scholar.

I never thought I would hear a politician say something like this!

Inspiration Wins

The Forever Wisdom of Your Soul's Purpose: "When you are inspired... your mind transcends limitation."
Inspiration Wins

This was another screenshot from Wayne Dyer’s DVD course. He often talked of being inspired as meaning being in spirit. There are a lot of phrases he brings up like this that make you think about the origin of certain words. Maybe that is why I like books and courses like this. Something that is thought-invoking.

I noticed that at the times where everything seems to be going right or when I am really inspired about something that I usually in a positive high-state. I even have a tune I think of in my head that makes me almost unstoppable in whatever I am doing. A past boss of mine used to listen to a song from the Peanuts gang “Linus and Lucy” to help get him inspired when he was brainstorming. I love this jazz rendition as well.

True, Necessary, Kind?

Before you speak let your words pass through three gates: Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it kind?
The Three Gates

Here are the three gates the Buddha says you should go through before you speak. I remember another book on Zen that spoke about being very careful and thinking through before you speak. I’m sure it was related to this.

The trouble is that when we get in high emotion we have a tendency of blurting out what is on our mind before answering these three questions and make things worse. It may be tough for you to catch yourself but with practice, it gets easier to catch yourself the next time.

Understanding Life

"When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down 'happy'. They told me I didn't understand the assignment, and I told them they didn't understand life." - John Lennon
Understanding Life

I read an article recently that stated that John Lennon never said this quote and they did some research to see if he really said this or not.

It appears that he didn’t really say this after all. There are a lot of misquotes for the Buddha as well.

But does it really matter? The message is a good sound one that I will never forget. I wish schools would teach more of this and the basics of how to have a happy life.

Law of Attraction

Remember the truth I've written about many times: You do not attract what you want; you attract what you are. - Wayne Dyer
Law of Attraction

With this quote by Wayne Dyer, it reminds me of something else he said in his podcast. He mentioned that if you are telling the Universe Gimme Gimme Gimme then the universe will respond with Gimme Gimme Gimme. You reap what you sow. You attract what you give out. This is one of the things I think about when I meditate on manifestation.

Letting Go and Faith

Accept what is, let go of what was and have faith in what will be.
Letting Go & Faith

Here is another quote about letting go. This is similar to an Apache quote on this website. When the time is right, think about this quote to help calm you down.

Accepting things instead of saying, “why me?” makes it easier to let go of things in your past. And remember always have faith in what will be instead of thinking, “Things probably won’t work out anyway.”

Let Go and Receive

Life's beautiful paradox: Once you learn to let go, you gain everything you were holding onto.
Let Go & Receive

Here is another quote about letting go. This time instead of letting go of things that angered you in the past it mirrors the quote, “If you love something set it free if it returns it was meant to be. If it continues to fly let it soar, and have faith that God has something better in store.”

To much controlling can make you lose things or make it seem not as much. But once you let things go it grows in strength.

Letting Go

One of the hardest lessons in life is letting go. Whether it's guilt, anger, love, loss, or betrayal. Change is never easy. We fight to hold on and we fight to let go. - Mareez Reyes
Letting Go

Letting go has always been one of the hardest things for me to do. If someone wronged me in the past I am sure that the person who wronged me has long since forgotten about it. Me, on the other hand, still remember it and I fight to keep it festering inside of me.

Why do we do this? It is because of our ego. Learn to control this and you will have a more peaceful life and it won’t bother you so much the next time it happens.
