This quote by Wayne Dyer reminds me of bullies on the school playground. Bullies have fun making fun of people because of the entertainment they receive by getting a rise out of you.
What I noticed from those experiences is that the ones that do not let what the bullies do and say bother them and go about their business are the ones that the bullies have a tendency to leave alone. They simply were not having ‘fun’ with them. Thus, conflict cannot survive without your participation.
I used to think I was more mature than others because I did not see any point in bullying but my mother taught me the reality that I was not mature because I let bullying get to me. My father would just let things’ roll off of him’ and nothing much seemed to bother him. That was his strength that I tried to emulate. My brother went through the same hell as me when going through school and he grew up to be a very mean sarcastic person. I, on the other hand, though thought I would never treat people like how they treated me. I was told otherwise that I could be mean and bully-ish as well. Bringing out the prospect of nature vs. nurture theory again.
Arguments, bullying, grief, etc. can be eradicated or halved by simply not participating.
