Here is a great quote from Wayne Dyer from one of his DVD sets. I remember a story he related when he went for a walk and came across two different people asking him what it was like there because they had just moved there.
The first person asked and Wayne asked them what was it like where they have moved from and they replied that people were wonderful and they were hoping the people would be like that here as well. Wayne told them that they would find more of the same here.
Another person asked Wayne the same question and Wayne again asked how the people were like where they had come from and they replied that they were just horrible. Then Wayne said that they would probably come across the same thing here.
What Wayne was trying to teach in this little story is that where your focus and expectations are on is what you will experience. Another example from Esther and Jerry Hicks related to the same type of incident. They were dreading getting booked at this same hotel that they always had trouble with but they decided to look at it with positive expectations instead of going in expecting problems. They were pleasantly surprised that the hotel worked out well this time with their little experiment.
